This series Waiting was created at a Motel in Anasco, Puerto Rico. It is a ‘no tell motel’, a place for lovers with mirrors on the ceiling and overly sanitized linens. The motel room is a metaphor for the experience of being alone in a world designed for two. Where the mainstream concept of love and partnership is dull and confining. The room is comfortable yet lacks color, vibrancy and passion. The mirrors on the ceiling are for the enjoyment of watching yourself as if you were a star in a pornographic movie or tv show. Our experience within the motel room is externalized and blocks us from being truly present in the moment. Prisoners of our own device we can wait here for a lover, become our own lover, or perhaps open the door, step out of the room, and look for something different.
